Hi!
As far as I have figured out, prisoners or past history with crime was not considered to be lobotomized in Norway. There was a strict difference between prisons and mental hospitals back then, but nowadays it's often merged (prisoners with severe mental illness is serving their time in a mental hospital). The Wright case was interesting to read, never heard of such before.
I really struggled to find in-dept information of patients and their diagnosis, I think it's still protected by confidentiality laws because many can still be alive. Some documents from the now abandoned Lier mental hospital was found and leaked by some teens some years ago and they got in legal trouble for this.
I do know that many was lobotomized because the hospital was understaffed and lacked space for all the patients there. To keep it calm the staff was motivated to put patients in coma or lobotomize them. Unfortunately.
